Junior Volunteer Program Frequently Asked Questions
What is the deadline for submitting the Junior Volunteer application?
The deadline for receipt of application is 4:00pm on April 15th. NO EXCEPTIONS.
What is the age for being a Junior Volunteer?
Junior Volunteer are students ages 15 to 17 years of age. Must attain age 15 by the first day of program (June 13th).
Am I allowed to miss any days during the six-week program?
Absences of more than 2 days will result in forfeiture of all volunteer hours earned.
Is there a face-to-face interview prior to acceptance into the program?
A select number of students will be chosen for interviews prior to being accepted into the program.
Do I get to choose which department I want to volunteer in?
The program is designed to rotate students through different departments for a broader hospital experience. Students preferences will be taken into consideration; however, placement will depend on department availability and scheduling.
How many volunteer hours do students receive during the program?
Students will volunteer 4 hours a day, 3 days a week for 6 weeks. Hours are generally 8:00am to 12:00pm. However, starting time may vary depending on the departments’ needs.
